Spray gun spitting is one of the most frustrating issues in automotive refinishing. Even with a lightweight LVLP multi-purpose spray gun, improper maintenance or unstable air supply can cause inconsistent atomization.
Check for Clogged Nozzles
Dried paint inside the fluid nozzle can interrupt paint flow and cause sudden bursts of material.
Inspect the Air Cap
If the air cap holes are partially blocked, airflow becomes uneven and the spray fan breaks apart.
Remove Moisture from the Airline
Water contamination inside compressed air lines is another common cause of spitting when using an air spray gun.
