How to Fix Spray Gun Dripping Problems

Dripping during spraying usually indicates a fluid control issue. Even a high‑quality lightweight LVLP multi-purpose spray gun can develop this problem if maintenance is neglected.

Check the Needle and Nozzle

The most common cause of dripping is a worn needle or damaged fluid nozzle. If the needle cannot seal properly, paint will leak even when the trigger is released.

Adjust Fluid Control

If too much paint is allowed through the gun, excess material may accumulate at the nozzle and begin dripping.

Verify Air Pressure

Low pressure can prevent proper atomization. When this happens, paint may build up on the tip of the air spray gun and form droplets.
